Bachelor of Architecture is a 5 years course leading to an undergraduate degree B.Arch. The Bachelor of Architecture Degree program prepares students for professional practice in the field of Architecture. Its course content, subjects and processes are all monitored and approved by the Council of Architecture which is the apex body under the constitution for fulfillment of criteria leading to the education in accordance with the Council of Architecture (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983.This undergraduate program, has a broad scope, providing exposure to a variety of interests in this field and assisting students to discover their own directions for further development. There is increasing recognition today of Architecture as an intellectual discipline, both as art and as a profession. Architects make a vital contribution in the shaping of our environment and society, in the design and technology for a diverse range of situations, both in the rural and urban contexts.
Council of Architecture: The Council of Architecture (COA) is constituted by the Government of India under the provisions of the Architects Act, 1972, enacted by the Parliament of India, which came into force on 1st September, 1972. The Act provides for registration of Architects, standards of education, recognized qualifications and standards of practice to be complied with by the practicing architects. The Council of Architecture is charged with the responsibility to regulate the education and practice of profession throughout India besides maintaining the register of architects.
